April on the Farm ๐Ÿšœ

This month has been a busy month for the farm team. With all of this lovely dry and sunny weather, we've been busy planting potatoes, strawberries, leeks, cabbages, broccoli, cauliflower, broad beans, peas, and beetroot.

A lot of work goes into planting potatoes and you might be surprised to know that it's a four-step process. Firstly the team create ridges in the ground to form the beds, before cultivating the soil to break it down into a fine tilth. Next, we use a clod separating machine to separate the fine soil and remove any clods and stones, before finally, we plant the potatoes.
Whilst the process does take time, it makes for a better quality crop and easier harvesting. This year we're planting six varieties of potatoes which will be ready to harvest from the end of July onwards.
